Frequently Asked Questions

What will my first appointment look like?

Step One:

We want to hear your story! At your first physical therapy appointment, we’ll start with a conversation about your medical history, current symptoms, and goals. We will ask questions about how your pain or injury is affecting your daily activities so we can get a full picture of your needs and to make sure that we are the right fit for you! This is about YOUR health, so you deserve the best fit!

Step Two:

Next, we’ll do a physical assessment, which will include checking your strength, flexibility, balance, posture, and movement patterns. This helps us identify any underlying issues contributing to your pain or limitations in order to find a solution for you.

Step Three:

Based on what we find in our movement exam, we’ll discuss a personalized treatment plan, which may include exercises, hands-on therapy, dry needling, and other techniques to help you move and feel better. The purpose of our treatment plans is to help you reach your goals, get you back in action, and progress you to where you want to be!

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely! If your knee is involved, bringing a pair of shorts will be beneficial so we can see the affected area.

Do I need a referral from my doctor?

Nope! In TN, you can see a physical therapist for up to 90 days without a doctor's note! Just give us a call and we will get you scheduled.

What in the world is dry needling?

Dry needling is a treatment technique used by physical therapists to relieve pain and improve movement by inserting thin needle into trigger points, tight muscles, or dysfunctional tissues. Unlike acupuncture, which is based on traditional Chinese medicine, dry needling is rooted in western medicine and muscle physiology.

How It Works:

  • The needle is inserted into tight or irritated muscle tissue to help release tension, improve blood flow, and reduce pain.

  • It targets trigger points, which are knots or tight bands in muscles that can cause pain and restrict movement.

  • The process can help reset the nervous system by reducing pain signals from the muscles.

What It Feels Like:

  • You may feel a slight twitch response when the needle hits a trigger point—this is a good sign that the muscle is releasing tension.

  • Some patients feel soreness for a day or two, similar to post-workout soreness.

  • Most people experience immediate or gradual pain relief and improved mobility after treatment.

Who Can Benefit?

Dry needling is often used for conditions like:
✅ Muscle tightness & spasms
✅ Chronic pain (e.g., neck, back, or shoulder pain)
✅ Tendinitis
✅ Headaches & migraines
✅ Sports injuries

Why do you not accept my insurance?

Low insurance reimbursement rates for physical therapy results in most companies double or triple booking patients at one time on one therapist. In order to receive one-on-one care and not let insurance control your care, we only accept out of pocket payment in order to give you the best experience possible.

We can provide a super-bill for you which will allow you to submit proof of your appointment to your insurance so you can file for reimbursement.
